PPS is a semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic suitable for components that require thermal stability up to 200ºC, high dimensional stability and offer a wide resistance to chemical agents. It is used for machining prototypes with good resistance to cracking at high temperatures. The moisture absorption of PPS is virtually negligible and therefore its dielectric constant and dissipation factor are not affected by humidity conditions. There are no known solvents that affect PPS below 200ºC and it is inert to steam, strong bases, fuel oil and acids. It is a lower cost alternative to PEEK in lower temperature applications.
